Hi, everyone! I am a landscape photographer and encaustic artist living in the unspoiled splendor of Southwest Virginia.

Artist Statement

I am a photographer and encaustic artist residing in Southwest Virginia. My photographic journey began over 45 years ago, photographing with black and white film and developing my own prints in the darkroom. I now work exclusively with digital photography and editing tools. To me, photography is all about conveying mood through light and texture.

In 2022 I discovered encaustic painting and instantly fell in love! I’m drawn to creating artworks with diverse surface textures and marks, employing all the techniques that are so inherent to encaustic painting -- accretion, mark making, and scraping. And I love how the heat gun and blow torch I use in the process help to complete the different textures. I often incorporate other media, such as shellac, PanPastels, India ink, and my own photographs in my encaustic work.

Originally from a small Arizona town, I’ve lived in various places, including Phoenix, Arizona, New Mexico, Maryland, Manhattan’s Upper West Side, Martha’s Vineyard, and East Central Texas. In 2021, I made Tazewell County, Virginia my home.
